What is ABS?

ABS can also be called as Anti-lock braking System. It is used to avoid skidding of vehicles while applying brakes so that the driver can steer the vehicle in desired direction. ABS works by ensuring that no wheel in the vehicle is looked up. It works on the principle of threshold braking and cadence braking. When the brake is applied with great amount of pressure over brakes when somethings interfere in path of the vehicle, the ABS will control the rate at which the individual wheels decelerate instead of stopping the wheels to rotate at once. It is done by controlling the line pressure applied to the foundation brakes of each wheel thus reducing the friction between the wheel and the road. It does it by the help of speed sensors to determine if one or more wheels are trying to lock up by limiting the braking over these vehicles.

There are many studies which have proven that ABS have reduced the amount of fatal accidents in many countries. It has reduced more than 50% of the accidents due to skidding of vehicles while applying brakes.

Components of ABS:
There are 4 major components for ABS, they are

  • Speed Sensors
  • Valves
  • Pump
  • Controller
Speed Sensors:

Speed Sensors are used to find the deceleration and acceleration of the wheel. It uses Hall Effect sensors and Magnetic coil to determine the speed of the vehicle by calculating the voltage difference in coil generated by Magnetic flux.

Valves:

The valve will safe guard the wheel breaking system to get applied with full force i.e when the driver presses the brakes harder. It will increase or decrease the pressure over brakes by getting signals from the controller.

Pump:

The pump in the ABS is used to restore the pressure to the hydraulic brakes after the valves have released it.

Controller:

Controller is one where everything in ABS is co ordinated. This is where speed sensors response are detected and accordingly valve and Pump is allowed to work. It is the ECU(Electronic control unit) type unit .

Use of ABS:

As the ABS prevents the wheels to lock up , unavoidable skidding is avoided. During rainy seasons due to slick roads the tires without friction will keep on spinning resulting in accident, such incidents can be reduced to a greater extend by using ABS brakes. Even though the drivers are well versed or professional it becomes very difficult for them to handle such situations.

Undiscovered things about Oceans

We all have wondered what is beneath ocean , what is the depth of it and many more ! But there are many other mysterious about ocean hidden in it.Let us explore one by one 95% of the ocean bottom is unseen by the humans: Whats below the seafloor? We all know that there are rocks present in it. But below that, there are much more things to look for. Researchers have found living microbes below the sea floor. Researchers tell that these microbes are a result of life before millions of years which is now submerged under ocean. Brine pools : Brine pools are nothing but lake like a body in the ocean. Yes, the ocean has lakes. They are large pools of water which have high salinity mostly 3 to 8 times that of surrounding ocean water. They are very dense there are cases reported where things have floated over it. They are lethal to sea animals. Milky seas: The white glowing effect of seawater during night time. It can also be known as mareel. There are many reported cases of milky...

VOLTE vs LTE - Reliance JIO explained

LTE (Long term Evolution): LTE was developed by 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership project) and is release in its 8th and 9th documentation release. The trade mark is owned by ETSI(European Tele communication Standard Institute). LTE nothing but a standard for the high speed wireless communication for mobile and data terminals. It is also called as 4G network. The network design was such that it will have reduced latency when compared to 3g networks, thus making it incompatible with 3G devices. It is a technological evolution on both CDMA and GSM. At present LTE is the fastest means of wireless data transfer in world. LTE can support a download speed of 100 MBits per sec and upload speed of 50 MBits per second. VOLTE(Voice over LTE): VOLTE is used to send and receive data simultaneously using LTE technology without compromising the voice quality. The usage of internet and voice call can be simultaneously done. The connection timing is also very fast when compared to 3G calls. In 2014...
